MUJI’s SoHo New York pop-up is half shop, half gallery: design history videos (hotels, restaurants), classic pens/storage/diffusers/travel, home sales—and at the core, Ikko Tanaka’s posters. The hall-of-fame graphic designer fused modern design with Japanese tradition as MUJI art director from founding 1980 to 2001, creating the logo still clear today. A 2000 20th-anniversary poster—“MUJI’s wind reaches London and Paris”—shows a bold-line man walking in wind holding a MUJI-colored book. Open through next January.
